The Invasion of France and DunkirkSummaryThe Germans break through the Dyle line and rush through the Ardennes. In 17 days they surround circa 500 000 troops. The British realize they are being surrounded and order an evacuation which saves 340 000 troops. This is seen as an Allied Victory. Soon after the evacuation, the rest of France fell quickly with Paris on June 14th and the rest June 22nd. The reasons for this is becasue the Maginot line was useless, thre Germans were much better at using their tanks, the Luftaffe was to strong and becasue of the political dissention occuring in France. France surrenders under Marshall Petain who was against the war. He accepts the new boarders of France which include the city of Vichy. The French are now puppets to the Germans. The Free French Army that had escaped to England were organized by General Charles de Gaulle.
